The Right to Information (RTI) Act is an important legal mechanism that enables the public to obtain necessary information from government institutions. To ensure administrative transparency and accountability, this law guarantees citizens the right to seek and receive information.
Under the RTI Act, the public can request information that is under the possession and control of a public authority.

Submitting an RTI Application
For this purpose, an application must be submitted to the designated Public Information Officer / Assistant Public Information Officer in the concerned departments.

Application Fee
The application fee of ₹10 can be paid in the form of a Court Fee Stamp, Chalan, Bank Draft, or Pay Order.
The application must be submitted to the Public Information Officer of the specific department/office from which the information is required.

Complaints
If no mechanism is provided to accept the application, if no reply is received within 30 days of submitting the application, or if the applicant feels an unfair fee has been charged, a complaint can be submitted to the Information Commission.
